Larry Montgomery is a Southern fan who became interested in comics and its fandom which in Hugh School in the early 60s and discovered fanzines and fandom a few years later through the Lupoff's Xero. This was when Southern fandom was coalescing with the SFG and the SFPA which he quickly discovered.
He was OE of ALA-APA, chaired DeepSouthCon 2 and DeepSouthCon 3. He was married to fellow fan P. L. Caruthers-Montgomery.
