A Canadian fan who was believed to have had the largest science fiction collection in Canada. He organized the Winnipeg SF Society in 1950 and was president of the CSFA in 1951.
Cuthbert also published two stories, with his debut story, "The Sublime Vigil," appearing in the February 1934 issue of Wonder Stories and his second appearing in the July issue of the same magazine.
His son is fan Ray Cuthbert.
Shortly before his death, Cuthbert’s SF collection was donated to the University of Alberta which maintains the Chester D. Cuthbert Collection. The school received 2142 boxes weighing around 45 tons. His fanzine collection is at Texas A & M University.
