T. W. Strange

T. W. Strange or possibly Stronge was a UK fan from Colwyn Bay in Wales active in the 1940s. He was a member of the British Fantasy Society (BFS).
Strange was a subscriber to Futurian War Digest since at least 1942 and joined the BFS around the same time where D. R. Smith contrived to render his name as 'T. L. Stronge' in British Fantasy Society Bulletin #2. At first this may seem like an attempt to make life difficult for future fanhistorians. However, Smith is not alone because in Futurian War Digest #22 editor J. Michael Rosenblum announces a new subscriber, a 'Lee Stronge' of Colwyn Bay although in a later issue he will refer to T. W. Strange. And the Directory of Anglo-Fandom of 1945 includes a 'T. Lee Strange' at the same address as is given for T. W. Strange in the BFS membership list in bulletin #5 and in bulletin #10.
As if things were not complicated enough, in Bulletin #22 Smith again refers to Stronge. Here we learn that he was serving in the navy in the Mediterranean and because of problems with receiving mail he had transferred his membership to his brother, D. R. W. Stronge (or, presumably, Strange) who was in the army and stationed on the Gold Coast. D. R. W. sent in a subscription of 7/6 (seven shillings and six pence, three times the going rate) as he regarded this transfer as 'skulduggery on the part of himself and brother' although editor Smith considered it 'a most sensible arrangement'.
It is all very strange. Or Stronge.
