Rita Krohne

(May 9, 1930 – February 5, 2010)

Rita Marie Krohne, later Rita Reitci and professionally published as Rita Ritchie, was a fan from Milwaukee active in the 1950s. She attended the Coroncon in London in 1953 where she and Bea Mahaffey 'were always surrounded by a wall of admiring fans, but managed to survive the incessant rounds of parties thrown in their honor'. She was often described as a friend of Bob Bloch.

Krohne also attended Philcon II, the 1953 Worldcon in Philadelphia, where she seconded Bert Campbell's likely impulsive and perhaps not entirely serious – as well as unsuccessful – London in '54 bid for the 1954 Worldcon.

She married John Reitci in 1954. He was an author of mostly crime short fiction published under the name Jack Ritchie (Wikipedia). Krohne was already a writer herself and in 1957 published her first novel, The Year of the Horse. as Rita Ritchie. Her books were mostly non-genre children's novels.
