John McGovern was a fan from Edinburgh active around 1960. He was a member of the BSFA, joining in 1959, and attended the BSFA Convention, 1960 in London. In Les Spinge 3 (July 1960). Ken Cheslin wrote in the second part of his history of the Stourbridge Circle:
At the Kingcon[1] we met many old friends and some new ones too, among the latter was one John McGovern, a Scot, who we discovered was doing his square bashing[2] just a few miles up the road from Stourbridge. When we eventually got back to the village we invited John down to see us, he came but twice before he got posted.
Ron Bennett's Directory of Science Fiction Fandom for 1961 listed McGovern at a Royal Air Force address in Singapore.
