Janice “Janny” Wurts, born in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania, was a fan in the Philadelphia area for many years. She was a member of the Philadelphia in '86 bid committee.
She has written numerous fantasy novels. Her award-winning paintings have been showcased in exhibitions of imaginative artwork, among them a commemorative exhibition for NASA's 25th Anniversary; the Art of the Cosmos at Hayden Planetarium in New York; and two exhibits of fantasy art, at both the Delaware Art Museum and Canton Art Museum. She has done the cover paintings for several of her own books.
Wurts resides in Florida with her husband, SF/fantasy artist Don Maitz.
