The Hotel Commodore in Manhattan was the site of two Lunacons (Lunacon 14 and Lunacon 18). In neither case was the fit a happy one for fandom, but in the latter case, the hotel performed so badly that a Bad Hotel Award was created: The Commode d'Ore: The Golden Crapper. One guess as to the first winner.
Other conventions held there include Infinity 74, Sflaggcon, and the huge Star Trek Lives!
It was owned by Donald Trump. It became a Grand Hyatt in 1980 and was scheduled to be torn down in 2019.
