Clifford Russell
(???? – )
Clifford Russell was a UK fan from Kent active in the 1940s. He was a member of the British Fantasy Society and is distinguished, in fannish terms at least, for being the last known person to join the Society, appearing as member 132 (oddly, there is apparently no member 131) in British Fantasy Society Bulletin #27 in August 1946. Also in that issue editor D. R. Smith made what sounds like a desperate appeal for a nomination for Secretary and Editor of the Bulletin as he intended to stand down at the end of the year. Mr Russell seemingly did not answer that call but then neither did anybody else and the Society dissolved around the end of 1946, meaning Mr Russell didn't get much for his 2/6 (two shillings and six pence) subscription.
