(1950[1] – )

Brian McCabe was a fan and fanartist from Slough in Berkshire, UK active in the mid-1960s. He was a member of the BSFA. His work was much praised – Ron Bennett in Skyrack 71 spoke of it as "Finlay-like" – but his time in fandom seems to have been short and not outlasted his teens.

McCabe attended the Repetercon, the 1964 Eastercon, and Archie Mercer said of him in Les Spinge 13 (May 1964) that he:

admits to being only fourteen. He came with Pete Mansfield – it turns out that they're cousins or something. Brian seemed very shy, but if he develops as he matures, he'll soon be an artist of considerable repute. The stuff he's doing now, at fourteen, is nothing to be sneezed at.

Peter Weston also praised him in Nexus 2 (December 1964): "Brian is an excellent artist whom I will be glad to see in Z."

McCabe's artwork appeared in Doubt, Vector, Zenith, A Checklist of Poul Anderson by Rog Peyton and the Robert Bloch Bibliography by Graham Hall. He also produced an art folio of reprint and original work around mid-1965. He is listed in Ron Bennett's Directory of Science Fiction Fandom for 1966 but doesn't seem to be evident thereafter. ISFDB lists a 2001 short story but this looks to be a namesake.
