Bob Parkinson

Bob Parkinson MBE is a British fan originally from Cheltenham active from around 1960. He is a longstanding member of the British Interplanetary Society, joining in 1956, becoming a fellow in 1967, and serving as a council member and president. He was also a member of the Cheltenham Circle, NotFans, The Fellowship of the Ring and the BSFA. He was part of the 1961 LXICON committee and edited the BSFA's Vector for three issues (56–58) in 1970–1.
Parkinson was a member of the Cheltenham Circle by Easter 1960. He attended the Kettering Minicon in June when he was a student at Nottingham University. He met Jim Linwood there, also from Nottingham, and they subsequently formed the NotFans group. This group disbanded in mid-1962 when Parkinson graduated and returned to Cheltenham.
He is a Visiting Professor at Queen Mary University London and Cranfield University where he lectures on Space Propulsion and System Engineering.
