Clarence Williard Roberds was a Southern Illinois fan who discovered sf in 1934 and discovered fandom in 1938 while working with Bob Tucker. He was publicity director for the IFF and edited the official Chicon I publication in 1940. He was part of the Third Chicago Conference.

He published Fantasy Fictioneer as part of Vulcan Publications. He also published the fanzines Science Fiction Esquire and Science Fiction Abattoir. With Tucker he helped recover the lost Monsters of the Moon which was shown at Chicon I. He was involved in Sonodiscs.
