(April 24, 1914 – ?)

Sigvard Östlund was a major collector of British and US sf already before Swedish fandom existed. Probably as early as 1951 he became the third member of the Stockholm club Futura, having learned of its existence from fans abroad who had heard of it from one of its founder. Östlund had attended Festivention, a convention in London in 1951, and in 1952 was elected to the committee that judged the International Fantasy Award. He wrote what may well have been the first presentation of Swedish fandom in any foreign fanzine; his essay "Science Fiction in Sweden" was published in Ron Smith's fanzine Inside and Science Fiction Advertiser no 12, November 1955. As far as known, Östlund left fandom after the demise of club Futura; in mundane life, he was an agency director with the Swedish Civil Aviation Authority.
