Jim Theis

James Francis Theis (pronounced “tice”) was a teenaged fan from St. Louis, a member of OSFA and the Graphic Fantasy Collectors of St. Louis, active in the late 1960s and early ’70s. He is best remembered for writing one of the most infamous pieces of fan fiction ever, The Eye of Argon, published in the clubzine, Osfan, in 1970.

He published one more fantasy story in another fanzine, Son of Grafan, in 1972, and gafiated not long afterward.

Theis later earned a degree in journalism. He married Barbara Mollin. He collected, traded, and sold tapes of radio programs of the 1930s–50s under the business name The Phantom of Radio Past.
