Furry fandom is a fringe fandom that revolves around anthropomorphized cartoon animals, with art, comics, fursuit cosplay, fiction and games, any of which may have sexual overtones. Fanartists, including Taral Wayne, Ken Fletcher and Reed Waller, began this movement in the 1980s.

Furry conventions include Anthrocon, Further Confusion, Midwest FurFest, and FurWAG, and the field gives out the Ursa Major Awards, the Cóyotl Awards, and the Leo Awards.
