John Mackay, a protofan from Jersey City, NJ, wrote the First Fan Letter with Address. It appeared on p. 515 in the “Discussions” section of the August 1927 issue of Amazing Stories.

Mackay was seeking “any young men interested in science and ranging from 18 to 23 years ... to get the young men together and experiment and discuss any scientific subject.” Fanhistory doesn’t record whether he found any.
