Alice Insley Bentley is a fan, con-runner, and bookseller closely associated with Chicago fandom. She chaired Capricon 9, Capricon 10, and Capricon 11 and was on the Minicon 34 council. Besides many Chicago-area convention committees, she was on the WhatCon and UrCon committees in the early 80s.
From 1988 to 2003 she owned and operated the sf bookstore, The Stars Our Destination as well as the associated small press The Stars Our Destination Press. After closing The Stars Our Destination, Bentley moved to Vashon Island, near Seattle, for several years before moving to Minneapolis in April 2015, she partnered with Greg Ketter to reopen DreamHaven's storefront.
