(May 6, 1927 – November 30, 2015)

Gerard Alphonsus Quinn was a UK pro artist from Belfast active primarily in the 1950s and 1960s. He was a member of the Fantasy Art Society (FAS).

Much of Quinn's work appeared in the UK magazines New Worlds, Science Fantasy, Science Fiction Adventures and Nebula with numerous interiors appearing from 1951 and covers from 1952. Later works appeared on two 1980s covers of Extro.

Fannishly, as a member of the FAS Quinn 'offered his services as art critic, willing to advise and constructively criticise the work of less experienced members'[1]. He also contributed to the Fantasy Art Society Calendar for 1953.

When describing Irish fandom in Hyphen #16 (August 1956), Walt Willis said of Quinn, 'we have friendly but occasional contacts'. He did reveal that Quinn was the 'K. Winn' of the Fansmanship Lectures.[2].

It's not clear that Quinn did any fan art as such beyond his contribution to the FAS calendar. His cover for New Worlds #26 (August 1954) illustrating the first part of Wild Talent by Wilson Tucker was reused on the cover of the fanzine Eye #3 in December. The original cover painting was sold for £1,500 at Glasgow 2024 for the benefit of fan funds. It had previously been owned by Vin¢ Clarke and later Rob Hansen.
