Bernard H. Cohen

Bernard Hirsh Cohen was a UK fan from Leeds active in the 1930s and early 1940s. He was a member of the Science Fiction Association (SFA), joining around April 1937. In the schism of Leeds branch of the SFA he was part of the 'SFL' faction.
Cohen was profiled in The Futurian #5 'In order to answer some of those carping critics, who continually demand to know more of us in Leeds'. This noted that he started reading sf around 1928 with novels from local libraries. He discovered 'the American brand' in 1932. He gave his chief hobbies as:
beer drinking, geography, pubcrawl'ng, Egyptology and archaeology generally – tombs and all that, bottle opening, astronomy, science fiction when more or less drunk (always, Ed.[1]) and beer drinking.
Favourite authors were Wells and Olaf Stapledon.
He was listed as one of the members of Fandom GPO. This is his only mention in the pages of Futurian War Digest.
He appears in the Directory of Anglo-Fandom of 1945 although marked 'not in touch at the present moment'.
