The Manchester Circle was a UK club based in Manchester. An informal successor to the Nor'west Science Fantasy Club (NSFC), it was created in late 1954 and continued to around 1959.

Dave Cohen explained in Authentic #50 (October 1954) that the NSFC would 'would go out with flying colours while making a great success of the Supermancon to be succeeded by something more informal like the London Circle:

Came the Supermancon – The Magnificent Flop – as quoted by Walt Willis. The NSFC apparently wasn't going out as hoped, with flying colours. Still, the previous idea was followed up, a search for a suitable pub for the informal get-togethers was made. The Thatched House was found. Are these informal sessions the answer? No subs, pop in when you like, and get togethers are every Sunday evening, no officialdom. The future will show. 'The Manchester Circle' has been born.

Meetings continued at The Thatched House until early 1957 after which they moved to the Ping Hong, a licensed restaurant. By early 1958 they moved again to the York Hotel and membership had dwindled to about five people.

In Then, Rob Hansen said, 'Although some of its members were at Brumcon the Manchester Circle may have faded away by mid-1959.'

This is a club page. Please extend it by adding information about when and where the club met, when and by whom it was founded, how long it was active, notable accomplishments, well-known members, clubzines, any conventions it ran, external links to the club's website, other club pages, etc.

When there's a floreat (Fl.), this indicates the time or times for which we have found evidence that the club existed. This is probably not going to represent the club's full lifetime, so please update it if you can!
