(???? – )

Frederick V. Giles was a UK fan from Barking active in the 1940s. He was a member of the British Fantasy Society (BFS).

Giles was a subscriber to Futurian War Digest from February 1942 and joined the BFS a few months later. In April 1944, J. Michael Rosenblum reported that Giles had:

been in the Navy for some while, & is now on HMS Cam as a steward. Frederick as yet hasn't become known as an actifan, but he has aspirations in that direction.

It does rather seem that it was an aspiration largely unfulfilled. Perhaps he felt slighted when British Fantasy Society Bulletin editor D. R. Smith gave his name as 'Frederick V. Gibs' in bulletin #10.

Giles is listed in the Directory of Anglo-Fandom of 1945 although not in later editions.
