Beresford Smith

Beresford Smith, aka Smitty, was a longtime fan from New Jersey who was a frequent attendee at conventions. His first convention was the 1961 Worldcon, Seacon, in Seattle, at which he beat Harlan Ellison in a fast and furious poker game. He was a corresponding member of WSFA.
Smith had a degree in electrical engineering from Princeton. He married his first wife, Barbara Kowalski, in 1957; Leslie Smith was their daughter. At some point, they divorced; Barbara died in 2008. He married fellow fan Tamar Lindsay in 1980.
