(April 9, 1915 – November 22, 1983

Leonard Patrick O'Connor Wibberley was an Ireland-born, U.S. author best remembered for his satirical alternate history series, The Mouse That Roared, set in the fictional Duchy of Grand Fenwick. Fandom found the Ruritanian romps, as Anthony Boucher said of the first novel, "utterly delightful ... a very nearly perfect book, on no account to be missed" (F&SF, June 1955, p. 75).

Wibberley, a journalist, wrote some 100 books, mainly children’s literature and detective fiction, often under pseudonyms.
