Steve Takacs was a New York fan active early enough that he was a member of Denvention in 1940. He ran an sf bookstore, Stephen's Book Service, in Manhattan in the 1950s and ’60s, attended Worldcons, and contributed to such fanzines as the Science Fiction Yearbook.
In 1981, Denvention Two’s list of Denvention I members reported that he had died, without saying how they knew.
