Albert “Al” Trestrail attended the 1941 Michiconference with his wife, Verna Smith Trestrail, and father-in-law, author E. E. "Doc" Smith. He accompanied Verna to quite a few other cons throughout their long married life.
The couple wed in 1937, when Verna was just 16, and were together till her death in 1994, living in Michigan and then Indiana. They had four children.
