The Galaktika prozine has been published in Hungary off and on since the 1970s. At its peak, between 1972 and 1995, the magazine sold 94,000 copies in a country of 10 million people. (Compare to Analog sales of 120,000 copies in the United States with 20 times the population.)

Revived by Metropolis Media, a book publishing company, in the 2000s, it apparently began translating and printing foreign sf stories without permission or payment.
