Barry Newton was a Washington, DC con-running fan who joined WSFA in June 1970 and started working on cons with Balticon 8 in 1974 and Discon II later that year. He was part of the Washington in '77 Worldcon bid. He was an active member of WSFA] serving as president 2011-14 and taking on many other jobs in the club over the years. He was also a member of BSFS and the SCA, active online and a frequent worker at other cons, including Worldcon. He is credited with being one of the first to put computers to use at Worldcon. He also worked two of the first North American Discworld Conventions.
