Guy Consolmagno

(1952 --)

American Jesuit research astronomer and planetary scientist at the Vatican Observatory. He was a student at MIT and member of MITSFS in the mid 70s He got his PhD in planetary science in 1978 at the University of Arizona's Lunar and Planetary Laboratory. He won the 2014 Carl Sagan Medal and gave his prize lecture at Sasquan, the 2015 Worldcon. On September 18, 2015, it was announced that Pope Francis had appointed Brother Guy to serve as Director of the Vatican Observatory. In addition to his published books, Consolmagno has published in the fanzine Argentus. He was an invited participant in Scifoo in 2008.
