John Varley Birchby was a UK fan from London active in the early 1950s and again around the late 1990s and early 2000s.
The younger brother of Sid Birchby, he attended the Festivention in 1951 and meetings at the White Horse. He re-emerged around the turn of the century and became a regular at London First Thursday pub meetings, BSFA meetings and occasional conventions. He was a correspondent of Ansible, Banana Wings and Journey Planet.
As Dave Langford noted in Ansible #275, Birchby was 'the last 1940s White Horse attendee still to be a regular at London first-Thursday meetings in 2010'.
