Daniel Pinkwater

Daniel M. Pinkwater (né Manus Pinkwater) is the author and illustrator of some 100 books, mainly for children and YA readers. They have attracted a large adult following, in particular his surreally humorous sf and fantasy works such as Lizard Music; Alan Mendelsohn, the Boy from Mars and The Snarkout Boys and the Avocado of Death. Several of Pinkwater’s books have been adapted as stage plays by Chicago’s Lifeline Theatre.

He is married to artist Jill Pinkwater, who also illustrates his books. They live in upstate New York. He spent many of his formative years in Chicago, where a number of his books are set.
