Dale Tarr

(April 28, 1916 -- August 2, 1986)

Clarence Dale Tarr discovered sf in the late 20s and was active in fandom from the early 30s (he wrote his first letter to a prozine in late 1930) and became really active in 1938. He was a member of the pre-War club The Hell Pavers, was an active member of the Cincinnati SFL, and after the War was one of the founders of the Cincinnati Fantasy Group. He attended Chicon I in 1940, and was active in fanzines in the 40s, including The Science Fiction World. In 1957 he wrote CFG History. He was one of the co-founders of First Fandom in 1958, and was president of the N3F in 1948-1949. He was one of the charter members of the N3F in 1941. He died of cancer in 1986.

An obituary appeared in the October, 1986, issue of the Science Fiction Chronicle.

He appears in a group photo on page 99 of Harry Warner's fan history, All Our Yesterdays (Advent, 1969).

Tarr was the subject of a Founding Member article by Jon D. Swartz in February, 2017 issue National Fantasy Fan.
