Phyllis Gotlieb

(May 25, 1926 – July 14, 2009)

Phyllis Fay Gotlieb (née Bloom) was a Canadian pro and an acclaimed poet. She began publishing short fiction in the late 1950s. Her first SF novel, Sunburst, was published in 1964; the Sunburst Award is named for it. Gotlieb won the Aurora Award for Best Novel in 1982 for her novel A Judgement of Dragons.

Her husband was Calvin “Kelly” Gotlieb (1921–2016), a computer-science professor; they lived in Toronto and interacted with fandom there. They frequently attended Ad Astra.
