The Cymrades were likely the first sf club in Wales. The name is derived from Cymru, the Welsh name for Wales.

While there were earlier known Welsh fans there is no evidence that any of them formed a group until Fred Robinson created The Cymrades in 1952 in Cardiff. We have no firm evidence for the identity of other group members but they possibly included Dai Barker, William E. Price and Fred Price, and maybe Arthur F. Hillman, all of whom were identified by Robinson as among the 'Welsh contingent' at Coroncon and who lived within a reasonable distance of Cardiff (aside from Barker whose locale we don't know).

Robinson drifted away from fandom around 1954 and it seems The Cymrades faded with him.

This is a club page. Please extend it by adding information about when and where the club met, when and by whom it was founded, how long it was active, notable accomplishments, well-known members, clubzines, any conventions it ran, external links to the club's website, other club pages, etc.

When there's a floreat (Fl.), this indicates the time or times for which we have found evidence that the club existed. This is probably not going to represent the club's full lifetime, so please update it if you can!
