The 1956 Best Short Story Hugo was presented September 3 at NyCon II. This third year of the Hugos, there was for the first time a shortlist of nominees, with the winner selected by voting by the members of the convention.
Winner: "The Star" by Arthur C. Clarke [Infinity Science Fiction November 1955]
