William Joseph Courval, Jr., was a "promising younger fan" from San Diego. He was a member of The Cult.
He is remembered mainly because he committed suicide while in the U.S. Army a few days after New Year's 1959, a culmination of the Year of the Jackpot. He shot himself in his 1949 Hudson, parked at the side of the road. He had been on leave from boot camp for the holidays.
