Gary Mattingly is a fan who was one of the founders of the Kansas City Science Fiction & Fantasy Society and of AutoClave, and chaired AutoClave 1. He was a member of the Wayne Third Foundation and of Cepheid Variable, which he helped to reorganize. He co-chaired Ditto 2.
