The 1997 Worldcon held August 28 to September 1 at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center, Marriott Rivercenter and Marriott Riverwalk in San Antonio. GoHs: Algis Budrys, Michael Moorcock, and Don Maitz. FGoH: Roy Tackett. Neal Barrett, Jr. was Toastmaster. Chairman: Karen Meschke.
a.k.a. "The Second Occasional LoneStarCon Science Fiction Convention & Chili Cook-off"; the first LoneStarCon, held in Austin, was the 1985 NASFiC, LoneStarCon.
It formed from the San Antonio in '97 bid and ran the 2000 Worldcon Site Selection and 1999 NASFiC Site Selection.
