A. Everett “Ev” Winne of Springfield, Massachusetts, joined fandom in the late 1940s and pubbed the fanzines Flook and Boffin in the 1950s. He was a member of the N3F, organizer and first BuHead of its Correspondence Bureau in 1951, and when SF International dissolved, he recruited many of its ex-members.
