A club in Portland, OR. Its clubzines were STRANGE, PUNS, and The Can Opener. The Portland Society of Strangers staffed a barricade during the 1970 student strike at Portland State University, as noted in Remembering the Portland State University Strike of 1970, p.1, last sentence in section headed "Fort Tricia Nixon."
Later, the club put on a series of conventions called Norwesterncon, ca. 1971-1973.
An early reference to the Society of Strangers was published in EGOBOO 11, 1970, pp. 19-20
