(December 4, 1921 – ????)

Donald 'Don' John Doughty was a UK fan from Downham Market, Norfolk active in the 1940s and early 1950s. He attended the Whitcon of 1948, the Loncon of 1949 and the London SF Con of 1952.

Doughty published the fanzine Tin Tacks which was distributed as a rider with [[[Futurian War Digest]] from March to September 1941 after which he joined the navy. J. Michael Rosenblum wrote in FWD #13:

In the last nine months or so, Don has rapidly come to the front as a 'top' fan, and was one of the most active members of the coterie of new enthusiasts. We all certainly wish him the very best of luck, and are sorry to miss his effusion in future editions of the Fido mailing.

Doughty wrote his own self-introduction in Futurian War Digest #23:

I first began to take an interest in Stf, in the shape of Wells, Verne, etc. around the age of 14, and then became interested in the pros in '38 being introduced to Fandom at the time of the first issue of FIDO, now nearly 2 years ago At the beginning of last year I used to bore a long suffering fandom with a Fido-sheet, Tin Tacks, until the Navy stopped all that. Haven't had much chance to do anything more than read fan and prozines since joining, hoping to become more prolific when I am settled down at sea. No point in stating preferences, as I've not read sufficient wartime stf to be able to give at all balanced opinions on mags, authors, artists, etc.
