A bid for the 1941 Worldcon by Olon F. Wiggins and Lew Martin which beat a New York in 1941 bid at Chicon I. See 1941 Worldcon Site Selection.
Wiggins and Martin hopped a freight train to get to Chicon I to attend and bid.
It should be made clear that this was in no way an organized bid. A Worldcon was a couple hundred people, max, and did not require much preparation or an exotic venue, so it was perfectly practical to bid first and get a site afterwards.

This is a page about a convention bid. Please extend it by adding information about who was bidding, officers, committee list, what they were bidding for, who their opponents were, and who won. |
