DeepSouthCon 16 was a convention held June 20-22, 1978 in Atlanta, GA. Jack Williamson was GoH. Attendance was 731. The con was chaired by Richard Garrison and Kelly Freas was MC.

Apparently Robert Heinlein and Clifford Simak had been advertised as GoHs, but were not present.

Don Markstein won the Rebel Award and Karl Edward Wagner won the Phoenix Award. There was a special award to Kelly Freas and Polly Freas for their support of the 1978 DSC.

Atlanta beat DixieCon 78, a bid for Chattanooga, TN.
