He had some involvement with fanzines from at least 1972 – he was a subscriber to Egg – but was mostly known as a convention attendee, possibly starting from Seacon '79. He was a regular at Eastercon and Novacon and often had memberships in Worldcon. He was a book collector and had many signed editions, some of them very scarce.
