Live Journal is a social networking site that encourages users to post simple diary entries, much more like a weblog than Facebook. It became very popular with fans in the 2000s, but the rise of Facebook squeezed it, and the ever more restrictive terms of use imposed by its Russian owners, coupled with privacy issues, encouraged fans to look elsewhere from 2016.
A few went to Dreamwidth, with similar software but more sympathetic owners, but most just migrated to Facebook, where they like the number of contacts, but hate the interface.
