He had some involvement with fanzines from at least 1972 but was mostly known as a convention attendee. He was a regular at Eastercon and Novacon and often had memberships in Worldcon. He was a book collector and had many signed editions, some of them very scarce.
He was a quiet and seemingly somewhat shy man, always dressed in a suit and tie in an era when few others did likewise.
