Rickey Steven Sheppard was a mid-Southern fan. He was a member of the Southern Fandom Confederation, the Western Kentucky University Speculative Fiction Society and masterminded the Wigwam Village in '86 DeepSouthCon bid. He worked on ConFederation, the 1986 Worldcon.

He was married to Elizabeth Sheppard.
