The Brotherhood Without Banners is a George R. R. Martin / A Song of Ice and Fire / Game of Thrones club.
The Brotherhood Without Banners ("BWB") fanclub began at the 59th Worldcon (The Millennium Philcon) in Philadelphia, PA, in 2001. The first formal BWB event was a dinner at a nearby restaurant on August 30, 2001. George R. R. Martin ("GRRM") and most founding members attended the dinner.
Very late the next evening, GRRM and several members traveled to Pat's King of Steaks outdoor restaurant in Philadelphia. There GRRM knighted those members present, dubbing each as "Knight of the Cheesesteak". Ken Brown, a classmate (Class of 1966) of GRRM at Marist High School in Bayonne, NJ, was dubbed "Knight of the Cheesesteak and City of Bayonne".

This is a club page. Please extend it by adding information about when and where the club met, when and by whom it was founded, how long it was active, notable accomplishments, well-known members, clubzines, any conventions it ran, external links to the club's website, other club pages, etc.
When there's a floreat (Fl.), this indicates the time or times for which we have found evidence that the club existed. This is probably not going to represent the club's full lifetime, so please update it if you can! |
