(1860 – January 8, 1939)
Los Angeles architect George Herbert Wyman designed L.A.’s famed Bradbury building, reportedly much influenced by a futuristic structure described in Edward Bellamy’s science fiction novel and social commentary, Looking Backward: From 2000–1887. He and his wife, Belle Wyman, were serious Spiritualists.
They were Forrest J Ackerman’s maternal grandparents.
While Belle was recorded as having attended some fan events, there isn’t a lot of evidence of George being involved in fandom. A drawing of his appeared in the September 1944 second issue of Lora Crozetti’s fanzine Venus, probably passed on by his grandson.
