Japan’s fandom originated in the 1950s, with early fen including Takumi Shibano and Masahiro Noda. It has hosted one Worldcon, Nippon 2007 in Yokohama. The Federation of Science Fiction Fan Groups of Japan covers the clubs in the country. The natcon, Nihon SF Taikai, began in 1962; a traveling convention, its members vote on the Seiun Awards.
