(???? –)

William Dawson was a UK fan from Glasgow in Scotland active in the 1940s and 1950s and maybe later. He was a member of the Science Fantasy Society (SFS) and at some point he became responsible for the magazine section of the British Fantasy Library (BFL).

The Operation Fantast Handbook of 1953 gave him as responsible for certain magazines with Vera Douglas handling others and Jim Donaldson handling books for what Ken Slater described it as 'perhaps the oldest existing organisation of fans in Britain'.

It's unclear how long this continued. An advertisement for what was then called 'The British Fantasy and Science Fiction Library' appeared in Vector #4 in 1959, giving his and Dawson's names, with him having taken on the books section as well.

A W. O. Dawson appears in the membership list of the SFS and it's assumed that this is the same person as Dawson's name is rendered as William O. Dawson in Vector #4. Elsewhere he's William C. Dawson.
