The Twilight Zone was an American television anthology series created by Rod Serling, originally shown during 1959-1964.
It was a series of unrelated stories that were fantasy, science fiction, suspense, and/or horror, and which often concluded with a macabre or unexpected twist. Some well-known pros wrote screenplays for the series or had stories adapted into episodes, including Ray Bradbury, Richard Matheson, Lewis Padgett, George Clayton Johnson and Damon Knight.
It was both a popular and critical success, and introduced many viewers to serious SF.
The program was in reruns for many years, and led to several media spin-offs, including revival TV series.
